In 2017 I made the best decision I could’ve done: to get healthy. I was so lucky to meet my boyfriend’s cousin that introduced me to a company called Arbonne. Arbonne has a 30 day detox program that includes protein powder, fiber powder, detox tea, and so much more. I was so motivated to eating healthy and to just lose weight. You see, I have never been “skinny”. My problem is I just love food, who doesn’t?! Doing the 30 day detox I learned to just love the food that your body needs… which is anything that is gluten, dairy, and soy free! I stopped eating all the junk food I ate the past 18 years of my life AND I started working out almost everyday. The best part of it all is that I finally saw my body changing into something I had never seen before! Every week when I stepped on the scale I was down 2lbs, 3lbs, and sometimes even 4lbs in just a WEEK! Within 4 months I had lost 25lbs, but then summer rolled around the corner and I stopped working out and I stopped cooking all my meals.
2018 was probably one of the hardest years of my life. In March I lost someone very special to me, he was practically an uncle. I also started at a new college that was totally different than the community college I had been going to for 2.5 years. I also moved out of my childhood home and into my own apartment, so 2018 was a big year of change for me. My 2019 resolution is to focus on ME. Last year I kept going back and asking myself “why did I let myself go” and “why would God take away someone so special to me”, I just kept asking my “why” all of the time instead of pushing forward. It is so easy to create excuses and to push things off to the side and I am at the point where enough is enough. 2019 has been off to a rocky start, last week my family had to say goodbye to our sweet bichon, Gracie. Gracie went blind 4 years ago, and with her passing I was able to reflect on the lesson she taught me and my entire family: keep moving forward even when life throws unfortunate things in your way. I am promising myself, my family, and all of you that 2019 is going to be different.
I AM going to be healthy, both mentally and physically. I AM going to live by the rule “Eat to Live” and not “Live to Eat”. I hope all of you can take something away from this because I know I have. Being healthy can be difficult, especially in a world with so much sugar and processed food! I am excited to move forward and to stop cutting myself down for letting myself go after losing 25lbs. I created this blog to share with you all my life and everything that I enjoy that I think (and hope) that you will as well! I am going to be sharing my journey on this page under the category “Lifestyle” with my favorite recipes and workouts! Thank you for taking the time to read my story and I look forward to starting 2019 off with a clean slate and the determination to live the best and healthiest life I can live!
